RETRO LIGHTNING PLAYLIST - 1973
Show #821 (aired 07-11-2009)

I call 1973 "The Year of the Classic Album". Maybe it was because I was really getting into entire albums around that time...or maybe it was due to the explosion of Southern Rock...or maybe it was just because albums were being produced with the whole project in mind, and not just concentrating on a single Top 40 hit to carry the entire album. Nonetheless, complete works of art were delivered that year from artists like Pink Floyd, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Wings, Billy Joel, The Allman Brothers, Edgar Winter, Stevie Wonder, Eagles, ZZ Top, and many others. Yes, 1973 was a mighty damn good year!...

RETRO LIGHTNING PLAYLIST - 1979
Show #820 (aired 07-04-2009)

Music was changing in1979. This thing called "New Wave" was beginning to creep in and replace the good ol' rock standards. Plenty of established acts continued to hold their own and adapt to the new movement as we were introduced to bands like The Clash, The Cars, Cheap Trick, The Police, and others. The decade was coming to a screeching halt as music made its way into the 80s, we tried our best to hold on to our very dear 70s...

Today, we'll re-live some of the best-selling music from 1976 along with some deeper album tracks taken from my 1976 college radio experience. Maybe you'll remember some of these...
